The Most Exciting Thing to Happen to npENGAGE Since 2011

By on Jul 28, 2014

Times have changed since the  launch of npENGAGE in 2011—as have the expectations and needs of our audience—so we decided it was time for us to make some changes, too.

Welcome to the new (and improved) npENGAGE!

It’s still the premiere blog for nonprofit best practices and resources, just better. In this digital age of smart phones, search, and instant gratification, it’s important to us that our site, and the content on it, is fresh and relevant.  This redesign will help ensure that we’re providing our readers with an experience worth coming back for.

With that said, I’d like to highlight a few key changes that were made on npENGAGE with you, our reader, in mind.

1. Simplified Categories:

We’ve slimmed down and consolidated the 9 categories and 20+ subcategories to 5 total categories: Nonprofit Technology, Nonprofit Fundraising, Nonprofit Marketing, Nonprofit Management, and Nonprofit News. No more digging through piles of categories and subcategories to find what you’re looking for, finally!

2. Free Resources:

Looking for even more insight into nonprofit fundraising and marketing best practices? Great. You can now access Blackbaud’s most recent reports, eBooks, and guides directly from the Nonprofit Industry Reports tab. From npEXPERTS to Charitable Giving, the most valuable nonprofit resources are now more easily available to you here, on npENGAGE.

*Bonus*: Webinars (for free!). That’s right. Check out the Free Nonprofit Webinars tab to register for our latest thought leadership webinar series.

3. Email Delivery:

Your days are slammed, so getting around to checking what’s new on npENGAGE may often fall to the bottom of your priority list. We get it. Let us take the leg work out of staying up to date with npENGAGE by delivering the most recent articles and resources straight to your inbox—no searching necessary. Just type your email address into one of the bright green boxes (or directly below). We’ll handle the rest.

4. Easier Reading:

While we care a lot about the aesthetic appeal of each post, the most important thing is the copy itself. If it’s not easily read, we’ve missed the mark. With the npENGAGE redesign we were mindful of the need to make each post as clear and digestible as possible. Whether you’re reading an article from your desktop, tablet, or smart phone, we’ve made sure the body of every post is reader-friendly.

5. Transparency and Recognition:

We value our bloggers and the time they dedicate to sharing their genius with our readers, so we thought it time to give them they credit they deserve. At the bottom of every post, you’ll now find an About the Author section that highlights the achievements, experiences, and interests of the writer. You can also go to the contributors tab for a full list of regular npENGAGE bloggers.

We encourage you to take a look around, see what other changes were made, and let us know what you think! npENGAGE is a living, breathing forum, so we’re constantly evolving and working to provide the best experience possible for the nonprofit community.

We hope you’ll continue to join us.
