This fourth of July, show your participants what they’re worth. If Katy Perrys’ Firework song just popped into your head, well… I won’t blame you. Her songs are catchy. Even though her music is about as poppy as it gets, we can learn a lot from this diva as we quickly approach one of my favorite holidays of the year.
The 4th of July is a great time of year to reach out to your participants and thank them for their support by showing them how their fundraising efforts make an impact. If your event is this fall it’s also a good time to connect with past participants who haven’t signed up yet; but focus your recruitment message on impact. Share with past participants the importance of their participation. Sometimes we can all use a little reminder about why we need to act.
Short on time before you strike up the BBQ and set off fireworks?
Keep this sparkling campaign simple. Consider three steps:
- Social Media Push: Post a fundraising thermometer image (in the shape of a firework) that shows progress on a curent campaign. Wish everyone a wonderful and safe holiday and thank them for their support.
- Email Campaign: Update your participants with a progress report and to enjoy celebrating our nations’ freedom by continuing to support your organization with flying colors for the rest of the year.
- Sparkling Reception: Invite major donors to a post-4th of July reception with champagne and sparklers. Celebrate their efforts by literally, letting them shine.
As fundraisers, let’s take the time on Wednesday to be thankful we live in a country that has the freedoms that allow courageous and passionate people to go after their dreams and light up the sky.
