The Dish: 2011 Convio Summit

By on Sep 20, 2011

The 2011 Convio Summit is 14 days away. I say this with a mixture of excitement and sheer terror since I still have a list a mile long of things to get done before the event. Nonetheless, this year’s event is packed with awesome sessions, engaging speakers, networking, parties and loads of Oprah-style giveaways—well, maybe not THAT good— but the more you participate the better the chance you’ll have to bring home some cool, free stuff! Here’s a quick run-down of what’s to come:

QR Scavenger Hunt
To help you become familiar with using Quick Response (aka QR) codes and to navigate you through all of the conference craziness, we’re running a scavenger hunt based entirely on QR codes all day on Monday and Tuesday of the event ending with a short quiz. For every right answer, gets one entry into our prize drawing. You could win an iPad, gift card and more!

General Session and Keynote
Heard the buzz about constituent engagement and want your organization to embrace this new way of thinking? This year’s general session has the goods. And, we’re very excited about our keynote address by internationally acclaimed speaker, author and consultant, Chip Bell. Chip is one of the leading experts in creating a culture that supports long-term customer loyalty. His insights and leadership span the corporate and nonprofit sector and will help you elevate your mission using strategies to cultivate long-term relationships and to establish organizational growth and change.

Monday Night Innovator Party
The competition was steep this year so come and learn about the winning campaigns—science fair style— that will get your creative juices flowing for your own programs! Speaking of flowing…yes, there will be plenty of cocktails, appetizers and conversation to suit your tastes.

Tuesday Night Out at Power Plant Live
Join us for a night out at Power Plant Live!, Baltimore’s premier dining and entertainment destination. Get out of the conference hotel to enjoy food and drink specials, a live band and some fun!

The Friendly Faces at Customer Care
Be sure to make your way over to the Customer Care Center table in the exhibit hall between sessions. There will be tons of resources and support being provided from Convio Community, Free ‘Do It Yourself’ campaign kits to getting support on Twitter. Or at least come by and say “hi” and meet the faces behind those Convio voices and emails that you know.

Nonprofit Live TV
Can’t make it to Summit? No problem, Nonprofit Live TV will be updated throughout the conference and is your source for insights and inspiration from some of the brightest minds from the nonprofit and tech communities.

Usability Lab
We want to hear from you! Stop by and say hello, fill out a short survey on Convio usability, or make an appointment for a 30 minute feedback session on selected topics. As a token of our appreciation, the first 50 visitors to fill out the survey will receive a free $5 Starbucks card. If you sign up for a 30 minute feedback session, we’ll enter you in a drawing for an iPod Touch!

Follow the official Convio Twitter account at @convio to see what’s happening at the conference and use the #convio11 hashtag to join the conversation. Gain insight into what’s happening at the event, see where people are meeting while in town and share your unique experiences with others in 140 characters or less!

Complimentary Headshots

Need to replace your 1982 professional headshot? Well, Wednesday, October 5 is your lucky day because we’re not only offering it for you at the conference, but it’s FREE. On that note, I’ll leave you with last year’s slideshow filled with event highlights, headshots and more. Enjoy!
