We Can End This is a yearlong initiative focused on sparking innovation and broader engagement in the movement to end hunger in America. It’s official kickoff went down at South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive 2010 much like the Pledge to End Hunger did in 2009. On top of unveiling the new movement at SXSW a new website was launched and a frontpage promotion was put on Mashable.com. Make sure to check out how We Can End This is making a different by heading over to WeCanEndThis.com and if it’s still not clear check out The Big Picture of WeCanEndThis.com by Scott Henderson.
Spotlight on We Can End This with Scott Henderson
An exciting part of the We Can End this initiative is the Cause Lab. CauseShift has this to say about the Cause Lab – “From March 15–April 15, we’ inviting disrupters and innovators to lend their talents to solve three main challenges facing our movement: 1) How do we design the hunger-free community? 2) How do we humanize hunger using data? 3) How do we accelerate local action?”
The Cause Lab kicked off on Monday, March 15, during an in-person event as part of SXSW in Austin, TX. Participants not at SXSW were able to follow along and participate online that day. People still have a chance to participate as the initiative continues on through April 15. Make sure to visit www.wecanendthis.com/sxsw for more information. Participants will use Goodzuma to create and capture their ideas. After the brainstorm ends, the We Can End This charity partners will review all the ideas and use the money raised thru WeCanEndThis.com to implement the best ones.
I hope you took a few minutes to watch the video and check out the WeCanEndThis.com web site. I want you to see how they are using new media to enhance their efforts.
