Social Media is just a Label

Social Media is just a LabelSomeone, somewhere decided that talking to my friends about things I like and promoting websites I find interesting needs to move from something pure and organic to something we need to hire firms to help us with.

They labeled it.  Gave it a formula and created a fear storm for all those “without a strategy”.

Don’t get me wrong. If you’re not playing hard in the social space, you’re missing out on an amazing opportunity.

But also know that no matter how we boil it down, we’re working to get people involved with our organizations, aware of what we do, and hopefully – just maybe – they’ll spread the word.

Don’t let the label scare you.

Be who you are, share what you do, promote it through any and every channel you think possible, not because it’s trendy, but because there is power in people.

Those who are successful in social media are so because they have something to say/share and they use powerful platforms to reach as many as possible.  Find your platform and shout as loud as you can.

And don’t fear the label.
