With all the buzz around Google+ in the #nptech world, I wonder how long it will take for nonprofit supporters to join the party? According to Robert Scoble, yo mamma won’t be using Google+ anytime soon. And while us techies will enjoy watching the steeplechase that is sure to be Google vs. Facebook in the coming years, it may be a while before your donors place their bets. What I’d like to see in a year is Google+ head. Until then, Facebook is going to have a firm grip on its trophy. Just check out the following infographic from DC-based creative agency Geoill. Adoption like that doesn’t happen overnight.
Actually, it may not take that long to see some real competition out of Google+. Many sites are reporting today that it will hit 10 million users today, and 20 million users by this weekend… making it the fastest growing social network ever.
The immediate problem for nonprofits will be Google’s warning that it will delete any non-personal accounts (business or nonprofit) at this time, until they’ve rolled out their further offerings.

Great point, Chris! I’m sure it will really take off as it gets more and more integrated into Google’s other offerings. A year from now, it will be an interesting comparison. But, competition spurs innovation, so it isn’t going to be an either or!
