Okay, my creative juices are a little stagnant right now (ex: blog post title) due to my fun O’Hare travel last night coming home from AFP International. And by fun I mean 3am arrival. But fun was definitely had at this year’s AFP conference. From speakers Blake Mycoskie, Queen Latifa, and Bill Clinton, one could not help but be excited about each day’s schedule. I promise to fill you in on all the messages and inspiring stories from out key note presenters once my brain restores from the mush it currently is today. However, I must pass on the amazing slide decks our very own Convions presented during the conference.
Day one was a huge hit! Director of Strategic Services Matthew Mielcarek presented The Next Generation of Giving – One Year Later to a packed audience. Along with Michael Johnston of hjc and Alanna Scott of EFD Toronto, listeners gained valuable insight into the donor trends of today’s changing generations.
CRM Specialist Blake Groves packed the Buzz Theatre with Getting the Younger Donor to Say “Yes” to Your Nonprofit. Eve Smith of Easter Seals Chicago also helped present by sharing her story on how her organization was revitalized and gained younger donors and volunteers by using social media to energize the young donors to reach out to their friends.
We ended the conference with a bang, clearly evident by the line of attendees outside the booth wanting copies of the Navigating the Waters in a Sea of Social Media presentation. Superstar Matthew Mielcarek presented again alongside Nick Ricci of AFP Arlington, VA. They helped breakdown the daunting seas (excuse the pun) of social media with the basic objectives organizations need to reach and good, clean strategies to start with when wading into the wild waters (excuse second pun) for the first time.
Alrighty, I’m going to get some fantastic and much needed sleep tonight and perhaps a massage, and then I promise to fill you in on all the AFP goodies later this week!
